I've read and agree to the Terms of Use Forum Terms & Rules Please take a moment to review these rules detailed below. If you agree with them and wish to proceed with the registration, simply click the "Register" button below. To cancel this registration, simply hit the 'back' button on your browser. Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board. Additional CV-specific rules Respond to content: Our discussion obviously depends on people reading and responding to each other's posts. In a linear thread such as HDD, we understand that it won't always be possible to read the full thread before posting, but, in other, more focused discussion threads, please endeavor to read the full thread before posting your thoughts. If you are not caught up on the thread, we ask that you do one or more of the following prior to posting:Read the Focus Thread. This thread is not that long and it will let you know what has been discussed. Read the Index Thread. Check out the index thread to see if there were discussions pertaining to any questions you might have Read 2-3 pages or so back from the end so that you can see what has happened in the near past. We have been having WAAAY too many posts asking the same questions, posting the same articles, or looking for things that have just been posted. We won't ever say everyone MUST read every post. The HDD thread is a very chatty place. But out of respect for all of the members, we feel that when people do join in, they should take a few minutes to see what's going on. Think of it as reading the room. This is NOT a chat room, but a message board, so the climate of the board at any given time is there for you to read. Cite: If you are bringing over a post from another board, please identify the original poster and the board of origin. This is to ensure that credit is given where credit is due. It is also to reinforce the message that no one person can speak for an entire message board. Finally, we will be in a better position to evaluate the credibility of any new information if we know the source. Adult language/content: In our main discussion area, we expect some self-restraint from posters in their choice of language and level of smut. However, we are adults here, so profanity is allowed, unless it is being used to attack another poster. As for smut, we prefer clever innuendo to explicitness. Don'ts: These probably don't need to be said, but, we're putting them out there, just in case. No name-calling and no threats: These are no-brainers. We do not attack each other. We do not allow hateful commentary. Violation of this rule may be grounds for a 24-hour suspension (or longer, at moderator discretion). No talking about the boards on the boards. If you're bored/angry/upset about a conversation, don't say so on the boards. It doesn't matter if it's "just your opinion," it's unfair to those who wish to participate in a conversation to tell them that you're bored/angry/upset with what they have to say. In a related vein, if you're not interested in a particular topic of conversation, either scroll silently or post on another subject. No debate/discussion in the HDD Main thread of administrative notes or decisions. If you have a concern about an admin note or admin enforcement of the rules, take it up with an admin via PM or in our Rules Feedback forum (do PM an administrator to let them know that you have posted there) . No comments or generalizations about people with a different opinion than you. Your posts should state your agreement or disagreement with others' opinions, not what you think of people who have a certain opinion. The latter usually comes off as judgmental and dismissive. No solicitation: Don't shill for commercial services unrelated to our board and board interests. If you have questions, please PM a moderator and clear it with him/her prior to posting. No violations of board security: Don't do it. You will get banned. Examples of such offenses include hacking into another poster's PM box and tampering with board access settings. No pictures of nudity or obscene material: The occasional triangle of Clay trummy is fine, but obscene material is not. Posting such material on purpose will be automatic grounds for suspension. No spamming: Sometimes, there will be good reason to post the same information in a few different places (for example, the HDD thread, the breaking news thread, and another Main Discussion thread). But please try to think about whether it is really necessary to post the same content in different threads (sometimes, it will be okay but we are just asking that you think about it and use your common sense). No reposting of members-only material: We have a Student Council area accessible only by those whose Clayversity registrations have been approved. Do NOT repost or repeat content from the Student Council area outside of the Student Council area, whether on this board or another board. Also, do NOT post material from members-only areas of other boards on this board. No copyright violation: Please do not post full articles in our Main Discussion area. If you wish to bring an article to the board's attention, post only a link (if available) and one or two paragraphs as a teaser. For articles whose links may expire, or without links available, we have a Print Media section in which we will allow the posting of full articles. No direct linking to photos on other sites: Out of consideration for other sites' bandwidth, please do not post direct links to photos on other sites. In regards to posting of photos, please read familiarize yourself with Clayversity's Posting of Photos announcement as to our rules on posting photos in the HDD thread. For additional Don'ts, please see the list of off-topic subjects in Clayversity Guidelines, above. Moderators/Admins Mods/admin are members of the board: As such, they are subject to the rules of the board, and bear the extra responsibility of helping to set and enforce the tone of the board. Edits: Moderators and admin have the ability to edit posts that violate board rules and/or exhibit some kind of coding error (such as an open tag, or something that causes board margins to expand). In the case of rules violations, moderators/admin will consult with at least one, if not more, fellow mods/admin prior to editing a board member's post. Action/Reaction: Because mod/admin decisions are a consultative process that is inevitably reactive to what happens on the boards, mod/admin action may not happen quickly or publicly enough for some posters. If you have a concern about something happening on the board, please PM a mod/admin, and please understand that the mods/admin may already be engaged in discussion of the issue, even if they have yet to respond on the board. Impartiality and Fairness: Moderators/admin are obviously expected to enforce the board rules with impartiality. Mods/admin will send a PM explanation whenever they must edit a board member's post. If you have questions about a mod/admin decision, please contact that mod/admin first, and then, if necessary, an admin. Feedback: Suggestions and questions on board rules should either be made via PM, or in the Campus Relations section of the board. Let's keep discussion about the board rules off the main areas of the board. Rule Changes: As the need arises, we may have discussions about additions/amendments to the board rules in the Campus Relations section. Rule changes are the responsibility of the board admin, but when possible board administrators may try to get feedback from board members, whether over a discussion period that lasts no less than 48 hours, or a poll. The following SHOULD NOT and CANNOT be posted for download at CV (this means these will not be vaulted and also cannot be posted on the boards via YouSendIt, sendspace, rapidshare.de, etc. links):-Studio recordings of songs that can reasonably be expected to be made or already are available for legal sale. -High-quality video content that can reasonably be expected to be made or already is available for legal sale. The one commonly accepted method of sharing such content (usually in lower quality) that we WILL allow here is youtube.com (as well as similar services like gofish.com). That is because it is a free streaming service that doesn't make its content available for download. The following CAN be posted for download at CV (via YouSendIt, sendspace, rapidshare.de links, etc., and they will be considered for the CV Vault at the discretion of the Vault Team):-Radio rips of studio recordings (because they will not approximate the quality of the studio recordings); -Caps of clips or full songs from Rate the Music and Promosquad (again, these will not approximate the quality of the studio recordings); -Caps of clips posted at online retailers. -Audio/video recordings of live performances that are not available commercially. As always, if you have any questions about whether something is appropriate for the boards, please PM an admin before posting.
